Drug Interactions With Wera

When taking Wera, women should talk to their healthcare provider about all other medicines and vitamins they are taking. Drug interactions can occur when Wera is combined with certain products, including some herbal supplements, certain antibiotics, and many seizure medications. In some cases, reactions such as these may increase your risk for side effects or can lead to unintentional pregnancy.

An Overview of Wera Interactions

Wera™ (norethindrone/ethinyl estradiol) may react with a number of other products. Some of these interactions can be significant enough to lead to accidental pregnancy, and a backup method of birth control, such as condoms, may be recommended in many cases.
Some of the drugs that can interact with Wera include but are not limited to:
  • Aminoglutethimide (Cytadren®)
  • Aprepitant (Emend®)
  • Barbiturates, such as:
    • Amobarbital (Amytal®)
    • Butalbital (Fioricet®, Fiorinal®)
    • Pentobarbital (Nembutal®)
    • Phenobarbital (Luminal®)
    • Primidone (Mysoline®)
    • Secobarbital (Seconal®)
