Drugs That Can React With Vestura

More Detail on Drug Interactions With Vestura

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when Vestura is combined with any of the drugs listed above.

ACE Inhibitors
Combining Vestura with ACE inhibitors can increase the risk of high potassium levels in your blood (hyperkalemia). If you take Vestura with an ACE inhibitor, your healthcare provider should regularly check your potassium levels, particularly during the first cycle you use Vestura.

Aminoglutethimide
Aminoglutethimide can make Vestura less effective, possibly increasing your risk of pregnancy. Talk with your healthcare provider before using these medications together. You may need to use a backup method of contraception, such as condoms.

Antibiotics
There have been reports of accidental pregnancy occurring in women taking birth control pills and certain antibiotics. However, the significance of this interaction is still uncertain. It is known that rifampin (Rifadin®) and minocycline (Minocin®) can make Vestura less effective. Ask your healthcare provider if you need to use a backup method of contraception while you are taking an antibiotic.

Aprepitant
Aprepitant can make Vestura less effective, perhaps increasing your chance of pregnancy. Talk with your healthcare provider before using these medications together. You may need to use a backup method of contraception.

Angiotensin II Receptor Blockers (ARBs)
Combining Vestura with ARBs can increase the risk of high potassium levels in your blood (hyperkalemia). If you take Vestura with an ARB, your healthcare provider should regularly check your potassium levels, particularly during the first cycle you use Vestura.
