Veregen Side Effects

Extensive studies have shown that skin reactions are commonly reported side effects of Veregen. Some of these skin reactions may include redness, itching, and burning. Fortunately, if side effects do occur, they tend to be minor and easy to treat. However, some problems may be serious and require immediate medical attention, including severe skin reactions or difficulty breathing.

An Introduction to Veregen Side Effects

As with any medicine, Veregen® (sinecatechins) may cause side effects. However, not everyone who uses the medication will experience problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider.

Although many people using this product will develop some sort of skin reaction, problems like these tend to be minor and easy to treat.

(This article covers many, but not all, of the possible side effects with Veregen. Your healthcare provider can discuss a more complete list with you.)

Common Side Effects of Veregen

Veregen has been studied extensively in clinical trials. In these studies, the side effects that occurred in a group of people using the drug were documented and compared to those that occurred in another group of people using a placebo ointment (an ointment with no active ingredients). As a result, it was possible to see what Veregen side effects occurred, how often they appeared, and how they compared to the placebo.

In these studies, the most common side effects of Veregen were skin reactions, such as:

  • Redness -- in up to 70 percent of people
  • Itching -- up to 69 percent
  • Burning -- up to 67 percent
  • Pain or discomfort -- up to 56 percent
  • Erosion or ulceration of the skin (a sore) -- up to 49 percent
  • Swelling -- up to 45 percent
  • A hard lump -- up to 35 percent
  • A rash -- up to 20 percent.
