Drug Interactions With Trivora

Numerous medicines can cause drug interactions with Trivora, including protease inhibitors, barbiturates, St. John's wort, and many seizure medications. Some interactions may increase your risk of side effects, while others can be severe enough to cause unintentional pregnancy. If you are ever unsure about any specific Trivora drug interaction, use a backup method of contraception until you can speak with your healthcare provider.

 

An Introduction to Trivora Drug Interactions

Trivora® (levonorgestrel/ethinyl estradiol) is a generic version of Triphasil®. It can potentially interact with several other medicines. Many of these interactions can be severe enough to lead to unintentional pregnancy. In these instances, a backup method of birth control may be required. If you do not know what to do about any particular Trivora drug interaction, be sure to use backup birth control until you can check with your healthcare provider, just to be safe. Some of the medicines that may lead to Trivora interactions include:
 
  • Aminoglutethimide (Cytadren®)
  • Antibiotics
  • Aprepitant (Emend®)
  • Barbiturates, including (but not limited to):

 

    • Amobarbital (Amytal®)
    • Butalbital (Fioricet®, Fiorinal®)
    • Pentobarbital (Nembutal®)
    • Phenobarbital (Luminal®)
    • Secobarbital (Seconal®)

 

  • Cyclosporine (Gengraf®, Neoral®, Sandimmune®)
  • Many seizure medications, such as:
