A very common sexually transmitted infection called trichomoniasis occurs in an estimated 7.4 million Americans each year. The infection, which is caused by a parasite, is primarily an infection of the urogenital tract. Infected women may have symptoms such as vaginal odor, yellow-green or gray vaginal discharge, and discomfort during sex. Although most men do not have symptoms, potential symptoms include white discharge from the penis and painful or difficult urination and ejaculation.
