Mono-Linyah Birth Control Information

Women of reproductive age may consider using Mono-LinyahTM (norgestimate/ethinyl estradiol) to prevent pregnancy. This generic version of Ortho-Cyclen® is a type of combined oral contraceptive and works by stopping ovulation, altering the lining of the uterus, and changing the cervical mucus.

Each package of Mono-Linyah contains 28 tablets. It is important to take one pill every day and at the same time each day. Missing doses or taking these pills inconsistently can increase your risk of an unintentional pregnancy. Although most women tolerate this birth control pill well, side effects can occur and may include nausea, bloating, and breast tenderness.

Because Mono-Linyah may not be the best birth control option for all women, your healthcare provider will need information on your medical history and any medications you are taking. If you have a history of heart attacks, blood clots, or depression, you may not be able to safely use this form of contraception

(Click Mono-Linyah for more information on this birth control pill. This full-length article contains an in-depth overview of this combined oral contraceptive, including details on how it works, dosing instructions, and safety issues.)
