Emoquette Birth Control Information

Women who are interested in oral forms of birth control may consider EmoquetteTM (desogestrel/ethinyl estradiol). This oral contraceptive is a generic version of Desogen® and Ortho-Cept®. As a combined hormonal contraceptive, this drug works by preventing ovulation and causing certain changes in the cervical mucus and endometrium.

Emoquette is not right for all women. Inform your healthcare provider if you have any medical conditions, such as diabetes, a clotting disorder, or a history of heart attack or stroke. Tell him or her about any other medications you are taking, including herbal supplements. This will help your healthcare provider ensure that Emoquette is appropriate for your situation.
