Alyacen Birth Control Information
One of the many birth control pills available is AlyacenTM (norethindrone and ethinyl estradiol). This oral contraceptive is available in two different strengths:
- Alyacen 7/7/7, a triphasic birth control pill (generic for Ortho-Novum® 7/7/7)
- Alyacen 1/35, a monophasic birth control pill (generic for Ortho-Novum 1/35).
Regardless of which strength you use, it is important to take one pill every day, at the same time each day. Missing doses or taking these pills inconsistently can increase your risk of an unintentional pregnancy. Side effects of this contraceptive may include headaches, nausea, and breast tenderness.
Because Alyacen may not be the best birth control option for all women, your healthcare provider will need information on your medical history and any medications you are taking. If you have a history of migraines, heart problems, or depression, you may not be able to safely use this birth control pill.
