Stavudine

Stavudine is a prescription medicine that is used for treating the HIV virus and AIDS. The medication is typically taken twice a day and is available as capsules or as an oral solution. The stavudine dosage your healthcare provider prescribes will depend on several factors, such as age, weight, other medical conditions you may have, and other medications you are taking. Possible side effects of stavudine can include headaches, nausea, and diarrhea.

Stavudine (Zerit^®) is a prescription AIDS and HIV medication. It is approved only to be combined with other medications for the treatment of HIV. It is not approved to be used alone.

Side Effects of Stavudine

As with any medicine, side effects are possible with stavudine. However, not everyone who takes the drug will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or can easily be treated by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.

Common side effects of stavudine include, but are not limited to:

Headaches
Nerve problems, such as unusual sensations (like burning or numbness)
Diarrhea
Nausea and vomiting.
