Skyla

What If I Take an Overdose?

Because it is inserted by a healthcare provider, an overdose is unlikely to occur. Nonetheless, as with any medicine, it is important to seek immediate medical attention if you believe you may have overdosed on Skyla.

(Click Skyla Overdose for more information.)

How Should Skyla Be Stored?

Skyla will usually be stored by your healthcare provider. It should be stored at room temperature, in its sterile package, until ready for use. Keep this and all other medications out of the reach of children and pets.

What Should I Do If I Miss a Dose?

If you miss your appointment to have Skyla removed or inserted, contact your healthcare provider right away to reschedule. Your healthcare provider will advise you on what to do.

Your healthcare provider will try to time the removal of Skyla with your menstrual cycle. If Skyla is not removed at the appropriate time, you may need to start another method of birth control to prevent pregnancy. If you miss your appointment to have Skyla removed, ask your healthcare provider about this when you call to reschedule.
