Skyla and Pregnancy

What Happens If I Want to Become Pregnant While Using Skyla?

If you wish to become pregnant during Skyla treatment, talk to your healthcare provider. Even though Skyla can provide birth control for up to three years, the device can be removed at any time by your healthcare provider. In clinical studies, about 75 percent of women who wished to become pregnant were able to do so in the first year after Skyla was removed.

Final Thoughts

You should not use Skyla if you are pregnant or thinking about becoming pregnant. Although pregnancy is rare with normal use, the drug can cause problems in a pregnant woman. If you are using Skyla, let your healthcare provider know immediately if you suspect you may be pregnant. If you do become pregnant, your healthcare provider will discuss all your options with you.
