Quasense dosing guidelines are the same for every woman: one tablet once a day. It is important to take your pill every day and at the same time each day. If you miss Quasense doses, it may increase your chance of getting pregnant. Each package contains 91 pills (84 active pills and 7 inactive pills), which allows women to only have one period every three months.
Quasense Dosing: An Introduction
Quasense™ (levonorgestrel/ethinyl estradiol) is a prescription
oral contraceptive (
birth control pill) and is a generic version of
Seasonale®. There is only one standard dose. As always, do not adjust your Quasense dose unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so.
Quasense Dosing for Birth Control
Starting at the beginning of the pack, take one tablet at the same time each day. Each pack will last for 13 weeks (91 days) and contains tablets in three trays. Start at the front tray and continue through the pack. After you finish one pack, immediately start a new one. Do not let any days go by between packs without taking a pill. This may take a little planning, as you will need a new pack on hand. The first 84 tablets contain the active ingredients. The last seven tablets do not contain any active ingredients. By taking these seven tablets, your body gets a break from the hormones, allowing you to have a period. You may experience breakthrough bleeding or spotting between periods. This is not your period; keep taking Quasense as usual.
When you take Quasense for the first time, start the pack on the first Sunday after your period starts. If your period happens to start on a Sunday, start the pack on the first day of your period. For the first seven days when you first start taking Quasense, it is necessary to use a backup method of contraception, such as condoms. From then on, take one tablet every day.
