Before starting Philith, make sure your healthcare provider knows if you have depression, gallbladder disease, or migraines. Other precautions for using Philith safely include warnings of potential drug interactions and an increased risk for strokes, heart attacks, or blood clots. Also, this contraceptive should not be used by those who have heart disease or a history of breast cancer.

What Should I Tell My Healthcare Provider?

You should talk with your healthcare provider prior to taking

Philith™ (norethindrone/ethinyl estradiol) if you have:

A clotting disorder or have ever had a blood clot
A history of a heart attack or stroke
High blood pressure (hypertension)
Chest pain
Gallbladder disease
Diabetes
Depression
Migraines or other severe headaches
Cancer (or if you have had cancer in the past)
Had yellowing of the whites of the eyes or skin (jaundice) during a prior pregnancy or oral contraceptive use
Liver disease, such as liver failure, cirrhosis, hepatitis, or liver tumors
High cholesterol
Unexplained vaginal bleeding.

Also, let your healthcare provider know if you:

Have an upcoming surgery
Smoke cigarettes
Are pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant
Are breastfeeding.

You should also tell your healthcare provider about all other medications you are taking, including prescription and nonprescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
