Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo® is a newer form of birth control pill that provides a lower dose of hormones. It contains estrogen and progestin, hormones that prevent pregnancy by stopping ovulation and altering the cervical mucus and endometrium. A pack of Ortho Tri-Cyclen Lo comes with three "phases" of pills, each with different amounts of progestin. Side effects of the drug include spotting between periods, vomiting, and headache.
