Ortho-Novum Warnings and Precautions

Because some women should not take Ortho-Novum, warnings and precautions for this contraceptive should be discussed with your healthcare provider. For instance, you should not use it if you have heart disease, a blood clotting disorder, or certain types of cancer. Ortho-Novum warnings and precautions also extend to women who have certain allergies, or who are pregnant or breastfeeding.

You should talk with your healthcare provider before taking Ortho-Novum® if you have:

  • Are over 35 years old
  • Smoke cigarettes
  • Have an upcoming surgery
  • Are pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant
  • Are breastfeeding.
     
Make sure to tell your healthcare provider about any other medications you are taking, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
