Nordette Dosage

There is only one standard Nordette dosage, regardless of your age, weight, or medical conditions. You can either start Nordette on the first day of your period or on the first Sunday after your period starts. Take one tablet daily, at the same time each day. To ensure the effectiveness of Nordette, dosing guidelines must be followed carefully.

 

Nordette Dosage: An Introduction

There is only one standard dose of Nordette® (levonorgestrel/ethinyl estradiol). As always, do not adjust your Nordette dose unless your healthcare provider specifically instructs you to do so. Even though Nordette is very effective when taken as directed, not taking Nordette correctly increases the risk of unintentional pregnancy.
 
(Nordette is equivalent to Levora® and Portia® birth control pills. The information in this article also applies to both of these medications.)
 

Nordette Dosing for Birth Control

Starting at the beginning of the pack, take one tablet daily. It should be taken at the same time every day. One pack will last for 28 days (four weeks). After you finish one pack, immediately start a new one the next day. Do not wait any days between packs (this may take a little planning, since you will need a new pack on hand).
 
The first 21 tablets of each pack contain the active ingredients. The last seven tablets contain no active ingredients. During this last week, your body gets a little break from the hormones, allowing you to have a period. Sometimes, you may have breakthrough bleeding or spotting between periods. This is especially common for the first few months you take Nordette. When this happens, keep taking Nordette as usual.
