Nelfinavir

Nelfinavir is a prescription HIV medication that comes in tablet and powder form. It is a type of protease inhibitor that should be used in combination with other HIV drugs, as part of an HIV "cocktail." While nelfinavir is not a cure for HIV or AIDS, it can help stop HIV from multiplying in the body. Potential nelfinavir side effects include rash, diarrhea, and nausea.

 

What Is Nelfinavir?

Nelfinavir mesylate (Viracept®) is a prescription medicine used as a treatment for HIV and AIDS. It is approved for use only in combination with other HIV or AIDS medications.

Nelfinavir Side Effects

As with any medicine, side effects are possible with nelfinavir. However, not everyone who takes the drug will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or can easily be treated by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.
