Drugs That React With Natazia

Natazia Drug Interactions Explained

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when Natazia is combined with any of the drugs listed above.

Antibiotics
There have been reports of accidental pregnancy occurring in women taking birth control pills and certain antibiotics. It is still uncertain how significant this interaction between birth control pills and antibiotics may be. Some antibiotics may be more likely to cause problems than others. Any time you take an antibiotic, ask your healthcare provider if you need to use a backup method of contraception.

Barbiturates
Barbiturates may cause your body to metabolize the hormones in Natazia too quickly, increasing your risk of pregnancy. Ask your healthcare provider if you should use a different method of contraception while taking a barbiturate.

Bosentan
Bosentan may cause your body to metabolize the hormones in Natazia too quickly, increasing your risk of pregnancy. Ask your healthcare provider if you should use a different method of contraception while taking bosentan.

Protease Inhibitors
Protease inhibitors may interact unpredictably with Natazia. Talk with your healthcare provider before using Natazia with a protease inhibitor.

St. John's Wort
St. John's wort (a commonly used herbal supplement) may decrease the effectiveness of Natazia, increasing the chance of pregnancy. Women should not use Natazia for birth control while taking St. John's wort or for 28 days after stopping this herbal supplement.

Thyroid Medications
If you are taking a thyroid hormone replacement medicine, your healthcare provider may need to increase your thyroid hormone dose while you are taking Natazia. Talk to your healthcare provider about this potential interaction. Your healthcare provider will check your thyroid function with a simple blood test before adjusting the dose of your thyroid medication.

Various Seizure Medications
Some seizure medications may cause your body to metabolize the hormones in Natazia too quickly, increasing your risk of pregnancy. Ask your healthcare provider if you should use a different method of contraception while taking a seizure medication. Women should not use Natazia for birth control while taking carbamazepine or phenytoin or for 28 days after stopping such medication.

Natazia may decrease the level of lamotrigine in the body, perhaps making it less effective. Your healthcare provider may need to increase your lamotrigine dosage.
