Minastrin 24 Fe Drug Interactions

Some antibiotics, protease inhibitors, and seizure medications may interact with Minastrin 24 Fe. Many of these interactions can reduce the effectiveness of Minastrin 24 Fe, possibly increasing the chance of unintentional pregnancy. To help reduce your risk, tell your healthcare provider about all other products you are taking, including vitamins, herbal supplements, and prescription and nonprescription drugs.

 

An Introduction to Interactions With Minastrin 24 Fe

Minastrin™ 24 Fe (norethindrone/ethinyl estradiol) can potentially interact with numerous other drugs. Sometimes, these interactions can be severe enough to cause unintentional pregnancy. If you are not sure how to handle any particular Minastrin 24 Fe drug interaction, it is a good idea to use a backup method of contraception, such as condoms, until you can check with your healthcare provider.
 
Some of the medications that may lead to interactions with Minastrin 24 Fe include:
 
  • Aminoglutethimide (Cytadren®)
  • Antibiotic medications
  • Aprepitant (Emend®)
  • Barbiturate medications, such as:
    • Amobarbital (Amytal®)
    • Butalbital (Fioricet®, Fiorinal®)
    • Pentobarbital (Nembutal®)
    • Phenobarbital (Luminal®)
    • Secobarbital (Seconal®)
