Minastrin 24 Fe Drug Interactions

Minastrin 24 Fe Drug Interactions Explained

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when Minastrin 24 Fe is combined with any of the drugs listed above.

Aminoglutethimide
Combining Minastrin 24 Fe with aminoglutethimide may increase your risk of pregnancy. Talk with your healthcare provider before using these medications together. You may need to use a backup method of contraception, such as condoms.

Antibiotics
There have been reports of accidental pregnancy occurring in women taking birth control pills together with certain antibiotics. However, several studies have shown that most antibiotics do not increase the risk of pregnancy in women taking birth control pills.

Some antibiotics may be more likely to cause problems than others. Ask your healthcare provider about whether you need to use a backup method of birth control if you are about to start treatment with an antibiotic (see Antibiotics and Birth Control Pills for more information). If it is very important to you to avoid pregnancy, you might consider using a backup method just to be safe.

Aprepitant
Aprepitant can make Minastrin 24 Fe less effective, perhaps increasing your chance of pregnancy. Talk with your healthcare provider before using these drugs together. You may need to use a backup method of contraception.

Barbiturates
Barbiturates may cause your body to metabolize the hormones in Minastrin 24 Fe too quickly, increasing your risk of pregnancy. Ask your healthcare provider if you should use a different method of contraception while taking a barbiturate.

Cyclosporine
Minastrin 24 Fe may increase the level of cyclosporine in your blood, increasing the chance of side effects. Talk with your healthcare provider before taking these drugs together. Your cyclosporine dosage may need to be reduced, or you may need to switch to a different method of contraception.

Many Seizure Medications
Some seizure medications may cause your body to metabolize the hormones in Minastrin 24 Fe too quickly, increasing your risk of pregnancy. Ask your healthcare provider if you should use a different method of contraception while taking a seizure medication.

Modafinil
Modafinil can make Minastrin 24 Fe less effective, increasing your risk of pregnancy. Talk with your healthcare provider, as you may need to use a backup method of contraception.

Protease Inhibitors
Using Minastrin 24 Fe with a protease inhibitor may increase your risk of pregnancy and make the protease inhibitor less effective. Talk with your healthcare provider before combining these drugs.

Selegiline
The hormones in Minastrin 24 Fe may increase the level of selegiline in your blood, increasing your risk of side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to lower your selegiline dosage or may recommend an alternative form of contraception.

St. John's Wort
St. John's wort (a commonly used herbal supplement) may decrease the effectiveness of Minastrin 24 Fe, increasing the chance of pregnancy. In general, you should not combine these products.
