- Unexplained vaginal bleeding
- Breast cancer or have ever had breast cancer
- An abnormal mammogram, lumps in your breasts, or bleeding from your nipples
- Estrogen- or progestin-dependent cancer
- Had a stroke or heart attack in the past year
- A history of blood clots
- Heart disease
- High blood pressure (hypertension)
- High cholesterol (hypercholesterolemia)
- An underactive thyroid (hypothyroidism)
- Liver disease, such as hepatitis, cirrhosis, or liver failure
- Kidney disease, such as kidney failure (renal failure)
- Migraine headaches
- Asthma
- Seizures or epilepsy
- Endometriosis
- Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE or lupus)
- Low blood calcium levels
- Diabetes
- Depression
- Osteoporosis or a history of fracturing a bone, or have a family history of osteoporosis
- An alcohol problem or drink a lot of alcohol
- Anorexia nervosa (an eating disorder)
- Plans to have surgery
- Any allergies, including to foods, dyes, or preservatives.
