Marlissa Dosage

The dosage of Marlissa is standard for all women -- one pill taken every day, at the same time each day. Each package contains 28 pills. Do not miss doses, as this may increase your risk for an unintentional pregnancy. If you forget to take this birth control pill, you may need to use a backup method of contraception, such as condoms, for a week.

An Introduction to Your Dosage of Marlissa

Marlissa™ (levonorgestrel/ethinyl estradiol) is a generic version of Nordette®. There is only one standard dose of Marlissa. As always, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so. Although Marlissa is quite effective when taken as directed, taking it incorrectly increases the risk of unintentional pregnancy.

Marlissa Dosing Guidelines

It is important to have a basic understanding of how a package of Marlissa pills is set up. The first 21 tablets of each pack contain the active ingredients. The last seven tablets do not contain any active ingredients. During this last week, your body gets a little break from the hormones, allowing you to have a period.

You may experience breakthrough bleeding or spotting between periods. This is not an actual period; keep taking Marlissa as usual.

Starting at the beginning of the pack, take one tablet at the same time each day. Each pack will last for 28 days (four weeks). After you finish one pack, start a new one the next day. Do not let any days go by between packs; this may take a little planning, as you will need to have a new pack on hand.
