STD Home > Etravirine Drug Information

Etravirine (Intelence™) is a prescription medicine used for the treatment of HIV and AIDS in adults. It is not intended to be used alone; instead, it is used as part of an HIV "cocktail." Healthcare providers often prescribe this medication to people who have developed resistance to other HIV medicines. It comes in tablet form and is taken twice a day.
Although the drug is generally well tolerated, it is not suitable for everyone. Before using etravirine, make sure your healthcare provider has up-to-date information on your medical history and a list of your current medications. Also, let your healthcare provider know if you have any allergies or if you are pregnant, thinking of becoming pregnant, or breastfeeding.
