You may notice that your pharmacist stores ritonavir capsules in the refrigerator. If possible, it is best for you to store them in the refrigerator as well, although they may be kept at room temperature (less than 77 degrees) if you will use them all within 30 days. Ritonavir oral solution and tablets should be stored at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Keep all forms of ritonavir in an airtight container. Preferably, the tablets should be stored in their original container.
Keep ritonavir and all other medications out of the reach of children.
What Should I Do If I Miss a Dose?
It is very important that you not miss ritonavir doses. If you do not take your ritonavir as scheduled, take the missed dose as soon as possible. However, if it is almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Be sure to tell your healthcare provider if you are having trouble remembering to take your HIV medications.
Is There a Generic Version?
Currently, there are no generic versions of ritonavir licensed for sale (see Generic Norvir).
