STD Home > Philith Dosage
When preventing pregnancy with Philith, the standard dosage is one tablet taken once a day, at the same time every day. This prescription birth control pill comes in a pack that contains 28 pills. It is important to know exactly what to do if you forget to take any of these pills, as missing doses increases your risk of pregnancy.
An Introduction to Your Dosage of PhilithThere is only one standard dose of Philith™ (norethindrone/ethinyl estradiol). As always, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so. Although birth control pills are quite effective when taken as directed, taking them incorrectly can significantly decrease their effectiveness and increase your chances of an unintentional pregnancy.
(Philith is a generic version of Ovcon® 35. The information in this article also applies to Ovcon 35.)
Philith Dosing GuidelinesThe first 21 tablets contain the active ingredients (the progestin and estrogen). The last seven tablets do not contain any hormones. During this last week, your body gets a short break from the hormones, allowing you to have a period. The "period" you get while on birth control pills is not really a period at all; it is just the effect of withdrawing from the hormones in the pills.
Starting at the beginning of the pack, take one tablet every day, at the same time each day. Each pack will last for 28 days (four weeks). After you have finished one pack, immediately start a new one the next day. Do not let any days pass between packs, even if you are still having your period; this may take a little planning, as you will need a new pack on hand.
