STD Home > Is Next Choice the Generic Form of Plan B?

As an emergency contraceptive, Next Choice® (levonorgestrel) can help prevent pregnancy when it is taken within 72 hours after unprotected sex. It comes in two forms. The original Next Choice is a generic version of the old, two-step formulation of Plan B®. The newer Next Choice ONE DOSE is equivalent to the new Plan B One-Step™.

These products are both available with or without a prescription and are made by Watson Laboratories.
