As a type of birth control pill, Marlissa helps to prevent pregnancy by stopping ovulation and altering the cervical mucus and uterine lining. It is a generic version of Nordette. Each pack contains 28 pills; it is important to take one pill a day, at the same time each day. Possible side effects include acne, nausea, and breast tenderness.

Are There Side Effects?Just like any medicine, Marlissa may cause side effects. However, not everyone who takes the contraceptive will experience problems. In fact, most women tolerate it quite well.

- Breakthrough bleeding or spotting (between periods)
- Breast swelling and tenderness
