Maraviroc is typically prescribed to treat AIDS and HIV. It is part of a group of medications known as entry inhibitors, and works by preventing the HIV virus from entering and infecting cells of the body. The medication comes in tablet form and is generally taken twice a day. Possible side effects include coughing, rashes, and fever.
What Is Maraviroc?Maraviroc (Selzentry™) is a prescription medication used as a treatment for HIV and AIDS. It should always be used in combination with other HIV medications and is only approved for treating certain types of HIV infection (not all types of the virus are susceptible to maraviroc).
Side EffectsAs with any medicine, side effects are possible with maraviroc. However, not everyone who takes the drug will experience side effects. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or can easily be treated by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.
