STD Home > Levonest

Levonest is a generic version of Triphasil, a birth control pill. As a combined contraceptive, it contains two different hormones that work together to prevent pregnancy. This medication comes in the form of a tablet that is taken once a day, at the same time each day. Although most women tolerate it well, this drug can cause side effects, such as nausea, breast tenderness, and headaches.

What Is Levonest?

Side Effects of Levonest

Just like any medicine, side effects are possible with Levonest. However, not everyone who uses the contraceptive will experience problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well. If side effects do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or can be treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious reactions are less common.

Common side effects of birth control pills include but are not limited to:

  • Headaches
  • Breakthrough bleeding or spotting between periods
  • Acne
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Breast tenderness.
