Generic Generess Fe
Patents currently prevent the manufacturing of a generic version of Generess Fe. The first patent is scheduled to expire in July 2014, which would be the earliest date that a generic version could become available. However, lawsuits or other patents for new uses of the contraceptive could delay the manufacturing of a generic Generess Fe product.
Can I Buy Generess Fe?
Generess™ Fe (norethindrone/ethinyl estradiol) is a prescription medication. It is one of the many oral contraceptives (birth control pills) available. Generess Fe is a chewable birth control pill, which is especially useful for women who have difficulty swallowing tablets. Unlike many other birth control pills, Generess Fe contains 24 active pills and 4 inactive pills per pack (instead of the usual 21 active and 7 inactive pills).Generess Fe is made by Warner Chilcott Company, Inc., for Watson Pharma, Inc. It is currently under the protection of patents that prevent any generic Generess Fe from being manufactured in the United States.
When Will a Generic Version Be Available?
The first patent for Generess Fe is set to expire in July 2014. This is the earliest predictable date that a generic version could become available. However, other circumstances could come up to extend or shorten this exclusivity period. This could include such things as lawsuits or other patents for specific Generess Fe uses. Once the drug goes off-patent, there may be several companies that manufacture a generic Generess Fe drug.
