Drug Combinations With Fosamprenavir to Avoid

Immune-Suppressing Medications
Fosamprenavir may increase the level of some immune-suppressing medications in your blood. Your healthcare provider may need to decrease the dose of your immune-suppressing medication to prevent this.
 
Methadone
Fosamprenavir can make methadone less effective. Your healthcare provider may need to increase your methadone dosage to prevent this interaction from occurring.
 
Nevirapine
Nevirapine can decrease the level of fosamprenavir in your blood, and fosamprenavir can increase the level of nevirapine in your blood. Your healthcare provider may need to adjust your dosage of these medications or may recommend a different combination of medications.
 
Other Protease Inhibitors
Taking fosamprenavir with another protease inhibitor may increase or decrease the level of both medications in your blood, depending on the particular medication. Check with your healthcare provider before taking two protease inhibitors together.
 
Paroxetine
Fosamprenavir significantly decreases the level of paroxetine in your blood. Your healthcare provider may need to increase your paroxetine dosage to prevent this interaction from occurring.
 
Phosphodiesterase Type 5 Inhibitors (PDE5 Inhibitors)
Fosamprenavir can increase the level of PDE5 inhibitors in your blood, increasing your risk of side effects. You healthcare provider may recommend a lower-than-typical dosage for your PDE5 inhibitor while you are taking fosamprenavir.
 
At this time, it is recommended that if you take sildenafil for the purpose of treating pulmonary arterial hypertension, you should not take fosamprenavir, as a safe and effective dosage of sildenafil for this situation has not yet been established.
  
Pimozide
Pimozide and fosamprenavir should not be taken together, due to the risk of dangerous reactions.
 
Raltegravir
Combining raltegravir with fosamprenavir may decrease the levels of both medications in the blood, perhaps making them both less effective. It is not yet known how best to handle this interaction. Check with your healthcare provider before combining these medications.
  
Salmeterol
Combining salmeterol with fosamprenavir may increase the risk of serious side effects of salmeterol (especially heart problems). Check with your healthcare provider before combining such medications. In general, these medications should not be combined.
  
Some Seizure Medications
Some seizure medications may decrease the level of fosamprenavir in your blood. Check with your healthcare provider before combining fosamprenavir with a seizure medication.
