Drugs That Interact With Fosamprenavir
Fosamprenavir Interactions Explained
The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when fosamprenavir is combined with any of the drugs listed above.
Fosamprenavir should not be combined with alfuzosin, as this may increase the amount of alfuzosin in the blood to dangerous levels.
Fosamprenavir may increase the level of certain arrhythmia medications in your blood, possibly increasing the risk of dangerous side effects. Talk with your healthcare provider before taking fosamprenavir with one of these medications. Fosamprenavir should never be combined with flecainide (Tambocor™) or propafenone (Rythmol®), due to the risk of life-threatening side effects.
Fosamprenavir may increase the level of bosentan in your blood. Your healthcare provider may need to lower your bosentan dosage while you are taking fosamprenavir.
Certain Antibiotics or Antifungals
Combining fosamprenavir with certain antibiotics or antifungals may increase the level of the antibiotic or antifungal in your blood. Check with your healthcare provider before taking fosamprenavir with any of these medications. It should never be combined with rifampin, since rifampin may make fosamprenavir less effective.
