Drug Interactions With Emtricitabine and Tenofovir

A number of medications may cause drug interactions with emtricitabine and tenofovir, including adefovir, ganciclovir, and certain protease inhibitors. These interactions could lead to increased blood levels of emtricitabine and tenofovir, which can increase your risk for side effects. Some of the other medications that may cause drug interactions with emtricitabine and tenofovir include atazanavir, cidofovir, and lamivudine products.
