Drug Interactions With Didanosine

There are potential drug interactions with didanosine. Combining didanosine with certain other drugs, such as antifungal medications and alcohol, can alter the levels of didanosine in your blood. As a result, these interactions may increase your risk of side effects or decrease the effectiveness of the medications. Before taking didanosine, be sure to check with your healthcare provider about any interactions that may apply to you.

 

Drug Interactions With Didanosine: An Introduction

Didanosine (Videx®) can potentially interact with a few other medicines. Some of these medicines that may lead to didanosine interactions include:
 
  • Alcohol
  • Allopurinol (Aloprim™, Zyloprim®)
  • Antacids that contain aluminum or magnesium
  • Certain antifungal medications, including:

 

    • Itraconazole (Sporanox®)
    • Ketoconazole (Nizoral®

 

 

    • Demeclocycline (Declomycin®)
    • Doxycycline (Adoxa®, Doryx®, Doxy-100®, Monodox®, Oracea™, Periostat®, Vibramycin®)
    • Minocycline (Dynacin®, Minocin®, Solodyn®)
    • Tetracycline (Sumycin®

 

  • Valganciclovir (Valcyte™).
