How Long Does One Depo-Provera Shot Last?

Depo-Provera® (medroxyprogesterone intramuscular injection) is a prescription medicine approved to prevent pregnancy and relieve certain symptoms caused by endometrial cancer or renal (kidney) cancer. It comes in the form of a liquid that is injected into a muscle.
 
How long does one Depo-Provera shot last? It can take many months for Depo-Provera to be completely removed from the bloodstream. For instance, if a woman is using Depo-Provera to prevent pregnancy, it can take at least 10 months or longer for her to become pregnant after quitting the medication.
