Dangers of Depo-Provera Shot
As with many drugs, there are certain dangers associated with Depo-Provera® (medroxyprogesterone intramuscular injection) that you should be aware of before starting the medication.
For example, this prescription drug could lead to a number of dangerous complications, such as liver problems, bone loss, seizures, and depression. Using Depo-Provera can also increase your risk for developing breast cancer, strokes, and blood clots.
You should not receive this shot if you have ever had a blood clot, stroke, or breast cancer. In order to help minimize any potential Depo-Provera dangers, tell your healthcare provider about any other existing medical conditions you have and any other medications you are taking before starting this medication.
