Drugs That Interact With Darunavir
Darunavir Interactions Explained
The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when darunavir is combined with any of the drugs listed above.
You should not take darunavir and alfuzosin together, as life-threatening reactions (such as dangerously low blood pressure) may result.
Calcium Channel Blockers
Darunavir may increase the level of calcium channel blockers in your blood, potentially increasing the risk of side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to lower the dose of your calcium channel blocker to prevent this interaction from occurring.
Certain Antibiotics or Antifungals
Combining darunavir with certain antibiotics or antifungals may increase or decrease the level of both darunavir and the antibiotic or antifungal medication in your blood. Check with your healthcare provider before taking darunavir with any of these medications. It should never be combined with rifampin, since rifampin may make darunavir less effective.
Certain Arrhythmia Medications
Darunavir may increase the level of certain arrhythmia medications in your blood, possibly increasing the risk of dangerous side effects. Talk with your healthcare provider before taking darunavir with one of these medications.
