Other Interactions With Amprenavir to Be Aware Of
Amprenavir oral solution (but not capsules) should not be taken with metronidazole, as dangerous reactions may occur.
Nevirapine can decrease the level of amprenavir in your blood, and amprenavir can increase the level of nevirapine in your blood. Your healthcare provider may need to adjust your dosage of these medications or may recommend a different combination of medications.
Other Protease Inhibitors
Taking amprenavir with another protease inhibitor may increase or decrease the level of both medications in your blood, depending on the particular medication. Check with your healthcare provider before taking two protease inhibitors together. Amprenavir oral solution should never be used with ritonavir oral solution, due to the propylene glycol content of amprenavir oral solution and the alcohol content of ritonavir oral solution.
Phosphodiesterase Type 5 Inhibitors (PDE5 Inhibitors)
Amprenavir can increase the level of PDE5 inhibitor medications in your blood, possibly increasing your risk of side effects. Check with your healthcare provider, as you may need to take a lower dosage of your PDE5 inhibitor medication.
Pimozide and amprenavir should not be taken together, due to the risk of dangerous reactions.
Some Seizure Medications
Some seizure medications may decrease the level of amprenavir in your blood. Check with your healthcare provider before combining amprenavir with a seizure medication.
